At Stafelalp, we’re in love with traditional mountain food… so much that we’re combining old and new to come up with new classics. That’s probably why our menu (and the hot chocolate) is pretty famous among skiers, snowboarders and hikers. How does a Rösti Stafelalp made with caramelised onion and apple, topped with barbecue pulled pork and sour cream sound?

Originally built as an exclusive mountain hut—imagine waking up to that view—Stafelalp transformed into a vibrant mountain restaurant as Zermatt's ski industry flourished. Over the years, it's been the backdrop to countless historical events, from legendary parties to the dramatic fire in 2018. Now, we're reopening our doors, ready to create even more history.

Three years after the fire and a temporary relocation, the new old Stafelalp reopens its doors on December 10th, 2021. A fresh alpine icon has risen, alongside a brand-new menu that blends all your classic favorites with some exciting new creations of our own.
